Jason Burns is a West Virginia native from Pendleton County,
WV. His family has lived in West Virginia since before the Revolutionary War, and he has strong ties to his home state.
His large family and his heritage are strong influences in his life and in his storytelling.
He obtained a BA in English from Bridgewater College in Bridgewater,
VA in 1998, and has a MA in Sociology from West Virginia University. He is currently completely his second MA in
Educational Leadership.
Jason has performed at West Virginia University's Mountaineer
Week, WVU's Young Writer's Holiday, West Virginia Wesleyan University, WVU's Office of Multicultural Programs Brown Bag Luncheon,
and at many other locations. His favorite storytelling gigs are impromptu gatherings with friends and family.
Jason is currently the driving force behind the West Virginia
Spectral Heritage Project, which is involved in researching, preserving, and performing ghost and monster stories from around
the state of West Virginia. At last count, the project has amassed over 480 stories!
In addition to storytelling, Jason also enjoys ghost hunts,
which he takes with friends throughout the state. He is also the webmaster of this website, and his own, titled
West Virginia's Spectral Heritage.
